Accidents happen, so it's best to protect your mattress while you can

It comes in five different sizes, including single (90x190cm £13.49), small double (122x190cm, £14.49), double (137x190cm, £13.99), king (150cmx190cm, £16.49) and Super King (180x200cm, £13.99). It's made with a microfibre cover and boasts a 100% polyester filling.

One person wrote: "Great quality, water resistant under sheet. Perfect for my mum." Another added: "Good quality and feels like a normal matress protector but with the added waterproof membrane that's very soft. It's for our spare bed and ready for any grandchildren that stay. Very pleased."
However, not everyone was thrilled, with one person saying: "good to protect the mattress but if you want it for thickness and comfort, not the one." Dunelm also sell a waterproof mattress protector, though it is on the slightly ore expensive side.
Getting a better 4.7 rating out of 1388 reviews, the Fogarty Quilted Waterproof Mattress Protector ranges from £25 to £40, with sizes of single (90cm x 190cm, £25), double (140cm x 190cm, £30), king size (150cm x 200cm, £35) and super king size (there's no info on size on the website, £40).
These are machine washable and are made up of 50% cotton and 50% polyester. All are waterproof. One shopper said of the product: "My heart sank when I heard the rustle of the polythene when I removed the protector from the packaging but when it is in place on the bed there is no rustling.
"The protector does move a little so I would recommend a decent well fitting deep fitted sheet to help to reduce any slippage and wrinkling. It’s comfortable to sleep on and there are no issues with sweating due to the waterproofing. All in all I’m happy with the purchase." However, one person warned: "Very good finish but not a snug fit as the elastic is too loose".
